First Snow in a Long Time

Overnight snow showers leading into Monday morning, January 15,  left an unofficial snow depth of 2 inches in the Town of Herndon. It had  been 714 days since Washington, D.C. received 1 inch of snow as of Dec. 31, according to AccuWeather. The last measurable snowfall was on Jan. 16, 2022. Lake Fairfax Park in Reston is a favorite sledding location.

Oshi, a one-year-old Pomeranian, helps clear the skinnest park in Virginia, the Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Railroad Regional Park. It is a paved trail between Shirlington and Purcellville, Virginia. At an overpass in the Town of Herndon, she uses her muzzle to snowplow the wet snow into her mouth. “Come on, Mum. Why are we stopping?" Oshi softly rumbles. And then hops and prances, saying she is happy and excited.
