This July marks 275 years since Alexandria’s 1749 founding. The City of Alexandria will be celebrating with events from April through September, and kicking it off at Waterfront Park on Saturday, April 6 from noon to 4 p.m.
A new archaeology exhibit will debut on recently uncovered ships at the Robinson Landing Gallery on the corner of the Strand and Pioneer Mill Way, showing off some of the City’s historic and public safety vehicles, and planting the first of 275 new trees. Collect a 275th Passport to guide you through all the City’s 275th Anniversary Kickoff.
Visit the ALX275 webpage for the 275th Anniversary Kickoff schedule and to stay on top of all the festivities and learning opportunities this year.
This milestone is not just a recognition of more than two centuries of history; it’s also an opportunity to amplify the shared experiences of the community and the collective achievements that have shaped the City’s identity.
Share your story to be memorialized in the City’s history. Download the City’s Social Media Toolkit to join in the celebration.
A partnership with DASH and GoAlex will provide dedicated bus routes on April 6.
