Crime Report

The following incidents were reported by the Mount Vernon District Police Station.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY: 8000 block of Pantano Place, Dec. 29, 7:14 p.m. A security officer reported that three juveniles were inside a vacant apartment. Officers responded and identified the three juveniles. Charges are pending.

ROBBERY: 8200 block of Russell Road (Mount Vernon Apartments), Dec. 22, around 7:42 p.m. A 31-year-old woman was walking on a sidewalk when two men grabbed her from behind, threw her to the ground, took her purse and ran off. The victim was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

TRAFFIC PURSUIT/DWI/POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA/UNAUTHORIZED USE/ARREST: Richmond Highway/Russell Road, Dec. 24, around 8:50 p.m. Officers saw a vehicle driving erratically and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver failed to pull over. Eventually, the officers were able to stop the car. A 39-year-old man from Waldorf, Md., was arrested, taken to the Adult Detention Center, and charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of marijuana and driving while intoxicated.

ROBBERY: Parrott Place/Pelican Place, Dec. 21, around 1 p.m. A 35-year-old woman was walking through a neighborhood when she was approached by two men. One suspect displayed a knife and demanded cash. The other suspect threw her to the ground and took an unknown amount of money from her purse. The suspects ran away. The victim did not require medical attention.

SHOPLIFTING/ARREST: 6700 block of Richmond Highway (Marshall’s), Dec. 21, around 1:45 p.m. A loss prevention officer notified a detective that three men, whom he recognized as serial shoplifters, had left the store with merchandise. A lookout of the suspect car was provided to local officers and a traffic stop was made. The driver, a 49-year-old man from Baltimore, was arrested, taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with petit larceny. The other two suspects were released.

BURGLARY: 3300 block of Pelican Place, between Dec.3 and Dec. 9. An investigation determined entry was forced through a window. Electronics and jewelry were reported missing. The incident was not reported until Dec. 19.
