Mount Vernon High School senior Rosemary Morataya received a silver award from The Hispanic Heritage Foundation. She was one of 21 award recipients at the Washington, D.C. regional Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards ceremony on Nov. 16. As the silver medalist in the engineering and mathematics category, sponsored by ExxonMobil, Morataya was awarded a $2,000 scholarship to support her plans to pursue a degree in aerospace engineering, astrophysics and business at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
