Mount Vernon — More than 2,500 homeless residents of Fairfax County will benefit from the money raised by Help the Homeless Walks. Waynewood was the highest Fairfax Country public elementary school contributor, with more than $5,400 in donations, nearly 400 registered walkers, and more than 700 participants.

During music and physical education class times, the student body walked and participated in the effort to help those less fortunate. Many Waynewood families also registered and made contributions to UCM.
