Mount Vernon — Aldersgate UMC at Fort Hunt and Collingwood Road was broken into and robbed of cash Friday night, May 18, according to an email sent out Saturday by Becky Connell, church business administrator.

“Someone broke into the church,” she wrote, “as well as several of the staff offices. Some damage was done and cash was stolen, but no one was hurt. The police are investigating the incident. The Sunday worship services were not interrupted.
