Poetry by Peter Lattu

botanicals

spring

blooming on the walls

of the Athenaeum

dogwood daffodil forsythia

bleeding heart snowdrop sedge

a butterwort

eating gnats

all framed and on display

on clean white walls

while outside

the March sun brings forth

flowering quince cherry

bluets and buttercups

all bloom

as daffodils fade away

unlike the art

framed and on display

for all to see

while daffodils fade away

today

---Peter Lattu

interconnections

at The Athenaeum

arrays of Caribbean color

tropical green

cerulean blue

juicy melon

sunset red

bringing the tropics north

animating color

with cartoon characters

Peter Pan Pooh and Pinocchio

opening life’s venetian blinds

to show spaces

kitchens and stairs

carpets coloring rooms red

old building blocks

made of print

ghostly white

burnt and aged

and out of date

mixed media

brought here

in brilliant color

from GA Gardner’s

Caribbean home
