Mount Vernon Athletic Club presented both The Breast Care Institute at INOVA Mount Vernon Hospital and INOVA Alexandria Hospital with checks for $6,900 each on Jan. 17.

The athletic club hosted its 6th annual “Swing for Pink” tennis fundraising event in October for breast cancer awareness month. The club, a recent winner of the Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber Mid-sized Business Award, has hosted this fundraiser since 2006 and has raised over $85,000 for the cause. This year’s funds will go towards breast cancer patient support. Above, Aaron Volbrecht, general manager of Mount Vernon Athletic Club, presented the checks to hospital representatives Judy Bilicki and Mary Myers. Also on hand, were the co-chairs of the event, Ellen McMichael and Leanna Jackson, and Sharon Timmons.
